The second edition of the Ipoh Music Symposium (IMS) was held from 9th to 11th October 2020 in collaboration with the arts collective Gerakan Seni Ipoh (Ipoh Arts Movement) under the theme “ROCK KAPAK”.
Distinguished panelists from diverse backgrounds, including researchers, practitioners, students, supporters, and fans of Rock Kapak music, participated in the event. The goal was to gather input and diverse perspectives on the music field through presentations by invited panelists, opening discussions and discourse on the importance, influence, and impact of the Rock Kapak music movement on society. The focus was particularly on its influence on the younger generation, considering social, political, historical, aesthetic, cultural, religious, and economic perspectives.
