Artist’s Biography | : | Betty Ismail, a Malaysian singer from Ipoh, Perak, rose to fame in the 1970s. Her music is reminiscent of the old Malay pop style, full of heart and storytelling. She has a unique relationship to the city of Ipoh, which served as a backdrop for much of her musical career. She was affiliated with popular local music venues such as the Green Fern Coffee House and the Miner’s Arms, which were both important to Ipoh’s live music scene in the late twentieth century. |
